Leipzig 20. August 2021 -- Appsfactory was awarded the Red Dot Brands & Communication Design Award 2021 for its tagesschau app.
With an average of twelve million viewers daily, public broadcaster ARD’s tagesschau programme is one of the biggest German news formats. In an era of information overload and questionable sources, the tagesschau app was developed as a product that delivers relevant and serious news to a large number of people. The app offers the well-known and trusted content of the news programme – packaged in innovative formats. New standards are set in information management thanks to intuitive navigation as well as modern components, e.g. story mode and Pictacrop. Over one million daily users and up to seven million visits per day underscore consumers’ preference for being accompanied through the day in a sustainable way. The app manages to create a completely new user experience, unlike any other German news app. This is also reflected in its excellent ratings in the Apple App Store (4.6 stars) and Google Play Store (4.5 stars).
This explains the following passage in the notification letter to Appsfactory about the award: “Never before have so many companies and agencies faced the professional judgement of our international jury of experts. You were able to hold your own in a strong field of participants and this speaks for the excellent quality of your project.”

The Red Dot is a prestigious award for high design quality. The international jury only awards the coveted quality seal to entries that convince with their good design quality and creative performance. This year, applicants from 37 industries in a total of 18 categories were able to apply for the Brands & Communication Award.
